Chickadees
Well, I suppose it's time to introduce you to the newest members of our family, Snowfeather (also affectionately known as "little bones") and Sleepyhead. Wait, something is wrong here. What could it be? This just doesn't look like Snowfeather normally does. Oh, I've got it! Eden usually holds her upside down.
<
Yeah, that's better. I've tried to convince the kids that the chicks don't like being upside down (or shaken, or thrown up in the air, or forced to walk a tight rope, or pushed around in a makeshift sled, or forced to ride the lawn mower, or forcefed worms...) to no avail. We got these chicks several weeks ago when they were, surprisingly, not much smaller than they are now. Our neighbors got a couple of chicks from the same flock and they are easily three times as big. I guess being upside down and terrified when the children are home is enough to stunt your growth. Why did we get the kids chicks? Can I tell you how often Eden has spoken of having baby chicks? That on Saturday mornings she climbs in bed with us and asks to watch videos of baby chicks on my kindle. So, when our neighbors were doing all the leg work to get a couple we tagged our two on with theirs. It was out of a complete and total desire to bring happiness to our children and not in any way motivated by the guilt that we'd just bought two bikes and a ping pong table for ourselves. Well, we did feel a little bad about that. It's kind of like when we tell the the kids they can't have any dessert and after they go to bed we dig into the nutella jar. So, they are here now and I clean their poop and the kids shake them upside down. What more could we ask for?
