FHE Night

We've been trying to do Family Home Evening (it's sort of like a Sunday school lesson at home) the past several weeks with Eden (and Fox of course but he's oblivious at this point). The lessons are super short and we sing a couple of songs. It's really not a big deal at all. Tonight, it was 7pm before I realized that it was FHE night. So, I pulled out the manual from the shelf to look over the lesson quickly. I even debated skipping it. As soon as Eden saw me take the book from the shelf she got so excited. She said, "It's family home evening! It's family home evening! Yeah!" Then she came and sat on the edge of the bed, put her milk down (which is a big deal this time of night) and put her hands in her lap. She said "Look Mommy! I put my milk down. I put my milk down mommy! It's family home evening." This just blew me away. I was so surprised that she knew what we were going to do just from me pulling the manual off the shelf. We had only done it a couple of times before. And she was so excited. I had no idea that it made such a positive impression on her. In the future I think I'll take FHE a little more seriously. I'm sure that it is a special time for her. Mommy and daddy are both home and both focused on teaching her and singing songs together. And of course I'm sure she feels the spirit in all of it as well. She really likes learning about Jesus and seeing pictures of him. I'm realizing more and more how impressionable she is and what a great responsibility we have to fill her mind with good things. (I had this same impression a few days ago when Eden dropped her spoon while eating and said mommy's choice four letter expletive.)
