Happy 6th Birthday Fox!

Fox just turned 6 years old. This year, he wanted to have a "bike" party. And what better way to bring in the summer than hosting the "Tour de Banovo Brdo." More than a dozen kids showed up to join the peleton with their bikes, trikes, scooters, and strollers. Eden claimed the "queen of the mountain" prize, while Fox was the stage winner for the big loop around the neighborhood. Then we lined the kids up for an obstacle course where they had to weave through cones and duck under a "flaming" arc. Before the main event, we had them decorate their rides with streamers and spoke beads, and paint personalized water bottles. After the race, they refueled with cevapi and kobasice (Serbian sausages, per Fox's request), fruit, and a cake topped with a Lego bike race--he riders were actually from a Medieval set (Hey, at least they were wearing helmets). Everyone had a great time, and no one got hurt. Which is to say, it went over better than we had feared. The day before the Tour de BB was Fox's real birthday. We had a quiet family celebration, and Fox got plenty of presents. The highlight for Andrew was the drum kit--he's slowly piecing together a band. For Fox, though, it was his new camera. He's been begging for one for some time now, and he finally got his wish. You can guess which slideshow below has pics from his camera--his has some extra features that mine lacks. A week before the party, Eden and Fox had their last day of school. They had a great year and were sad to part from their teachers and friends. We're glad that we'll be in Serbia for another year so that they can return to ISB.
