Second Annual Burton Easter Visit

It's not often that we get to celebrate holidays other than Christmas with family, so we considered ourselves pretty darn lucky when Jan and Gary came last spring during Easter AND Andrew's birthday. Imagine how excited we were when we found out they were coming for Easter again this year. The kids think it's tradition now, so they should probably go ahead and book flights out to be with us every Easter. We'll be in Serbia next year, so they can choose between Western and Orthodox Easters (we plan to celebrate both). Since we've seen a lot of DC together, this time we just layed low and relaxed. We visited one of our favorite places, a nature center not too far from us. The kids love walking along the rocky creek and we can never resist letting Bela take a swim. Fox decided to join him at the end.
Easter Sunday was a lot of fun, although it would have been better if we hadn't all been so tired. Someone was up every half hour through the night too excited to see what the Easter Bunny left. Here's a great picture of her at about 11am in her Easter dress on the floor.  After our first night in this house, we woke up the next morning to a beautiful Spring snow. I remember feeling so impressed by the red tree buds showing through the white snow. I've always wished I had taken a picture. Luckily, nature repeated itself and this time I had my nice camera. We also spent a day at the zoo where we saw a giant iguana get his teeth brushed and his scales scratched. The kids thought it was the funniest thing, and so did the rest of us. If he were a kitten he would've been purring.
