Say hello to our swamp monster and red devil! I love that every year our kids want to dress up like something scary for Halloween. It's a source of pride one might say. Also, I was very proud that Andrew decided to dress up this year, even though it was only for 15 mintues...and a tad sacriligeous...But come on, Elder Vadar? It's funny right?
It's been a very Halloweeny weekend over here. The school had their annual Halloween celebration Friday night and the Embassy had theirs Saturday night. Since I was on both planning committee's it's been a really busy week (although much busier for the ones in charge- which I am so grateful that this time it was not me). At least the work was all fun! The school party was fun, chaotic, and a little predictable (we follow the same plan each year which works). The embassy party tonight was even better though. All the embassy people in the neighborhood put fliers out on their gate and the kids can go trick-or-treating throughout the neighborhood to those with the signs. Then the gals in charge of the event set up the most awesome haunted yard. It stretched through three yards complete with a cemetary, fear factor table, potions table, and an awesome haunted maze (think chainsaws, giant spiders dropping out of the trees, adults dressed in scary costumes jumping out to scare the crap out of people, and an insane guy "trapped" in the trampoline in the middle of it all yelling for the kids to let him out). I was the gate keeper and couldn't keep the smile off my skeleton face while the fuzzy warm feeling of Halloween time melted my cold black heart.
