January Activities
Aside from some dense fog and a punishing week of the worst winds Belgrade has seen since the '70s, January turned out to be a very mild month. A bit rainy and overcast, but quite warm. So we got out quite a bit. Here are a couple of our excursions; one to a skate park, then a nice playground near a beautiful church.
One Saturday, we went on a guided tour with an American archeologist whose an expert on Roman civilizations here. Turns out, Sremska Mitrovica, a small town about 1 hour north of Belgrade, was briefly the capital of the Roman Empire in the 4th Century. They've been working to preserve the ruins for decades now, and have some really cool stuff. Fox found it especially interesting. He wanted his picture taken with every artifact (I literally took a hundred pictures of him).
Also, Bela turned the big ONE-ZERO on February 1. That's 70 in dog years! The kids baked him a cake and gave him lots of love. Then we had a couple of Bela's best friends over for a huge dog party. Bela had a bit of a hangover the next day (i.e. he puked 3 times).
