We're finally moving!!! We are so excited to have finally found a place. It a great townhouse not far from where we are now. And since it has a basement, the sofa we have now will go there which means we are in the market for a new sofa. Now, for this part, I need your help. There are two items below (this picture and this rug) that we want to go together in the main room. We need to pick a sofa that is a color complimentary to both (but that cannot be red since I just recovered my dining room chairs red and you would be able to see them from the living room). What do you think? The current consensus is purple but it subject to change. Advice please??

With all those colors going on, I'd go with something simple and neutral. And stain-resistent with kids. West Elm has great furniture, and there is a store in DC. Check it out. They have great natural colors, and linen is pretty durable. Miss you Mandy! We are coming to DC in June. I will touch base.

Congrats on finding a house!! We'll have to come visit next time we are in town. As far as the couch goes, what about an olive green?
So exciting!!! Bout time right? Can't wait to see pictures! I like the purple idea...have you thought about a deep brown. I love ours because it cleans wonderfully and hides anything I miss with little kids. Also, a mustard color would look cool. Whatever you pick you def. have lots of great colors that you can accent with!
