Home Improvement Project

We were handed down 6 beautiful green parsons chairs from Jan and Gary a few years ago. At least they were beautiful. After a couple of years of little sticky hands and faces they didn't look so good. So I decided to recover them myself. How hard could it be right? (Um, did I mention that I don't sew?)
Mom showed me how to thread my sewing machine (the one I got 4 years ago) when she and dad came for a visit. Andrew is sanding and staining the legs of the chairs and I am sewing the covers for them. It's been a bit of a learning experience. Each chair gets a little better (well, we've only done two but the second one looks better than the first and I think for the following ones I've worked out the kinks in the pattern- and my sewing abilities...like sewing straight).

Here's what the chairs looked like before. I didn't think to take a picture until I had already begun stripping the last chair so some of the fabric is loose on the front. See what I mean about the stains?
And Viola! After about 6 hours of stripping, sanding, staining, sewing (cussing), and stapling, here is the finished product.
